I have an obsession with Ted. Ted Baker that is. Not the stuffed bear with the wicked Boston accent 🙂 I find his dresses to be so feminine and playful. And this dress is no exception.
I had my eye on it for a long time at Von Maur. And I watched. And I watched some more … until it was on its second mark down. SCORE! Gotta love the sales at Von Maur! I love the Peter Pan collar in the front and the back, and not to mention this great print. My kids were spinning me around trying to find all of the birds on it. It’s such a wonderful mix of color. Ted does it again.
My mom picked up these gorgeous little mint earrings for me for Christmas. I love that my hair is slightly long enough to pull back so I can start to show off my earrings! I also picked up this new Raegan cuff from Kendra Scott. Mint is one of my favorite colors, so I know this bracelet will be on heavy rotation, especially since it’s small and a good size for layering.
Dress – Ted Baker Eponi Pretty Trees; Tights – The Limited (old); Booties – Vince Camuto (old); Earrings – ?? Christmas present; Mint Cuff – Kendra Scott Raegan; Gold Cuff – Henri Bendel; Watch – Rolex

Now, I know leather pants have been in style for a bit, but I hadn’t jumped on the trend. One reason why? Fear. Fear of how my body/legs would look in them. So, while I was at Von Maur, I said “What the heck do you have to lose by trying on a pair?” (I should also add they were on the sale rack, so I was much more tempted to try them on.) These 7 For All Mankind faux leather pants seemed harmless…and had LOTS of stretch.
So much stretch that I actually had to size down! That’s not common when I try on jeans, so I was a little shocked…but I’ll take it!
And I loved them! They are actually really comfortable! The only negative I have is that the dye REALLY rubs off. Like on everything. It says to wash them before you wear them, and they are hand wash only. Ugh. Well, I wanted to wear them to the Timberlake concert that same night, so I was just hoping I didn’t rub dye off on anything too important 🙂
So with my new faux leather pants, I wanted to add a softer, lighter fabric shirt. I received this in my last Stitch Fix. I’m all about details, and this shirt fits the bill. Great print. Buttons down the back. Sheer (but came with the cami). Cutouts around the next and arms. It worked perfectly with my pants.
A lot of times, you might tend to build your outfit off of your shirt or pants. But then. You find these awesome shoes. And you want to build your outfit around them.
In walk (no pun intended) Sam Edelman’s Anastasia Cutout Sandals. Or should I say “in walks Ems to the Von Maur shoe sale room about four times before these were at the right price to finally buy?!?!?”
Aren’t they gorgeous? I just couldn’t resist. I love a great statement shoe. And this is definitely a statement shoe. So I built my outfit for work around them. A simple black top and pencil skirt – and I’m ready for work!
Oh hey, FitBit Flex, let me take you off since you aren’t the most fashion-forward “bracelet.” But if you are a FitBit wearer, you understand how your wrist feels naked when it’s not on!
Shoes – Sam Edelman Anastasia Cutout Suede Bootie (not on Von Maur’s site, but found here); Shirt – White House Black Market (old); Skirt – J. Crew Factory; Bracelets – Stella & Dot and Henri Bendel; Earrings – Vintage Chanel; Watch – Rolex
To me, this was an easy outfit. Do you ever have one of those mornings when you are feeling rushed and just need to hurry up and get the heck out the door? In the ATL, I have about a 10-minute window that if I don’t hit it, I’m stuck in traffic. As in taking me an hour to get to work 😦
So…this outfit came together super easy on my rushed morning. Love a good silk button up. Love a good statement necklace. Love a good pair of skinnies. Love leopard print. Add them all up and voila! Here’s what you got!
My team member at work came to work one day and said “Emily, you have go to get these!” She understands my love for fashion. So for $20 (on sale!) at Old Navy, I couldn’t resist. I love trying new skinnies. And these are pull-on…circa my maternity pant wearing days! I am prone to buying dark wash too because they just make jeans seem a little dressier – at least in my mind. I’ve worn them a few times now, and I highly recommend them. They keep their shape all day and do not stretch out or appear baggy after a few hours. And for under $30, you can’t beat it!
Now, I love wearing high heels, but I’ve been on the hunt for some leopard print flats. Or kitten heels would do, too. And I finally found a pair! Where you ask? In my favorite store’s shoe sale room – Von Maur!! I’ve never own a pair of Isaac Mizrahi New York shoes before, and I am now a big fan. Super comfortable! And they are made so well.
So here you go…my easy go-to outfit. Do you have similar outfit for work that are your go-to?
Over the past few years, my scarf collection has grown a ton. It can make an outfit in an instant. Just by wrapping something around your neck!
Cool fall mornings are among us. And scarves are perfect to keep you warm when there is a little chill in the air. It was only 55 degrees in the morning, but was supposed to heat up to almost 80. Here’s a perfect example. We visited the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC this last weekend. Not to digress too much, but I’m a major kid at heart – I could not freakin’ wait to feed the giraffes!! I’m a huge animal lover, and if you didn’t know this about me, I actually interned at a zoo!
But back to the fashion 🙂 It was definitely chilly in the morning, so I wrapped an infinity scarf around my neck and out the door I went. Excitedly to feed the giraffes. Ha! I got this awesome scarf at Von Maur on sale for…wait for it…$7! I won’t go on my rant on how much I love Von Maur and you’re crazy if you don’t shop at this great department store.
Here are some great scarf options below $25. I love how many options there are nowadays – floral, plaid, plain knit, animal print, stripes, polka dots, and the list goes on and on.
Are you a scarf lover? How many do you have in your collection?
Sorry for my blogging hiatus. Should I admit the real reason I’ve been slacking on the blog front???
I’ve been sucked in to watching Orange is the New Black! For those who also love OITNB, you know how long it takes to watch these episodes! Everyone at work kept talking about it, so I had to join to club. I hated not knowing what the heck everyone was talking about! Oh how I love this show…and I only have two episodes left to watch!
But…I had to show this you gorgeous Ted Baker London Electric Daydream pleated maxi dress I wore last weekend. This is a dress that just makes you feel pretty. It’s flowy. It’s a gorgeous print. It hides that you’ve eaten too much Italian food!
I had been eyeing this dress at Von Maur. If y’all haven’t shopped at Von Maur, I have no clue what the heck you are waiting for?!?!? Let’s go over the price of the dress. It retailed for $375. Yikes. I saw it on the sales rack when it was $187, which is great for Ted Baker, but still a little steep for me. So I did the waiting game…and went back a week later, and BAM! It was on sale for $93. $93, people!!! This gorgeous dress! Uh, put it on my VM card, pronto.
Dress – Ted Baker Electric Daydream Pleated Maxi Dress (but I got it much cheaper!); Shoes – Charles by Charles David; Earrings and Bracelet – Stella & Dot (both retired); Purse – Louis Vuitton; Watch – Rolex
Since my hair is growing, I could actually put it half up and show off these gorgeous minty Stella & Dot earrings I have had for a while. LOVE being able to do new things with my hair then just having it down!
What’s the best deal you have gotten lately?
I love my mom. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. She is an amazing woman who has taught me so much about love and life…and how to shop. But most importantly, she taught me how to be a mother. How to love my children unconditionally. I can’t thank her enough.
This last Sunday was my 11th Mother’s Day as a momma! Well, one was when the girl was in the womb, but that totally still counts. Pregnant women everywhere would agree with that statement. These two are my world! I was a younger mom having the girl just after my 24th birthday, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. As I look at my life and reflect on how I’m mothering my children, I think I’m doing a pretty darn good job. I’m protective, but not a helicopter parent. I comfort my children when they are sad, and try and get them to talk about their feelings. I let them make their own choices (to some degree), so they can grow as individuals. It’s so important that these two grow up knowing how to handle life by themselves – that mommy and daddy won’t always be there to solve their problems.
I had a great Mother’s Day. The girl loves to coordinate with me, and I’m cherishing every freakin’ moment!! So of course we both got new dresses to wear to brunch. I picked up both of our dresses at Von Maur (my favorite store on the planet!). I got mine on sale, while I spotted hers in the girl’s section and couldn’t resist. But, I know she will wear it a ton this summer. It is so fun being this girl’s momma! And of course my son, too! 🙂

Yeah, yeah. I’m definitely one of those women who doesn’t love swimsuit season. Now, I am 100% comfortable in my skin when I am clothed, as I have really learned how to dress myself to accentuate my assets. It’s when I have to put on a swimsuit, the self-conscious switch turns on. I have the “mommy tummy” where the lower belly skin isn’t exactly the tightest…and lots of stretch marks. BUT, I earned those stripes – and I remind myself I grew two very healthy babies in my belly. I’m proud of them!
So, I may wear a bikini when I have a spray tan and the stretch marks don’t show as much…but my usual swimsuit is a one piece or tankini. There are so many options out there! One piece swimsuits can be just as cute as those teeny weeny bikinis. I’m heading on a beach vacay in less than two months, so I went out and pinned a few suits I want to keep my eye on. Many of them were at Nordstrom, so I need to make a trip in there to see how they look.
Do you feel more comfortable in one pieces, tankinis, or a bikini?
My momma was in town the other day, and when I got off work, the first thing she said to me was, “You have got to check out these new shoes at Von Maur.” My momma knows my style pretty well, so of course we swung by Von Maur on our way out to dinner.
And of course…I bought the shoes.
She’s a bad influence. She always gets me to spend money! But, I have to say, when I wore these the other day, I got SO many compliments.
Sometimes I love wearing simplistic colors, and then just making the outfit pop with a fun shoe. And these Poetic Licence shoes do just that! See what you think…
Turtleneck, Skirt, Tights – The Limited; Bracelet – J. Crew; Necklace – Stella & Dot; Shoes – Poetic Licence at Von Maur
I love wearing boots. Love. It. I am a huge Frye fan, and I love being able to wear my favorite boots. Georgia has still been pretty warm, and I have to admit when I wore this, I was pretty much sweating in the afternoon (Boo!). But, it’s mid-October, people! It’s time to wear some boots. And a scarf!
I bought this scarf last year at Von Maur. I have worn it so many ways, I can’t even count. With colored denim, with skirts, with black, with cobalt blue, and the list goes on. I was always hesitant on wearing brown and black together. Why? I don’t know. I’m just weird that way I guess. So I opted for a cream sweater so I could wear my brown denim.
(Please excuse the massive cheese on my face…the hubs was making me laugh!)

I feel a little MIA lately, but work has been insanely busy…as in working all day, taking a small break for dinner and time with the kiddos, and then back to work at night on my laptop. Not complaining – I love my job. But I miss my blog. (Look, I rhymed!)
So I know last week I talked about patiently waiting for that maxi dress to be on sale at Von Maur. Well…I was waiting for this one to go on sale, too! I don’t have any strapless maxis, and I loved this one. Again, it’s Sky. Love the crochet detail on the top and the dip dye of the coloring.
This was my Labor Day outfit. It was such a beautiful day – I thought it deserved a beautiful dress!
Dress – Sky; Sandals – Sam Edelman; Bracelets – Coach, Stella & Dot, Henri Bendel
“Patience is a virtue.”
This saying was definitely my mantra when it came to waiting for this Sky “Barbor” maxi dress to go on sale at Von Maur! I first spotted it in April. The color. The braid work. The fabric that doesn’t wrinkle. I. Wanted. It.
BUT. I refused to pay almost $200 for it.
So I waited. And waited. And waited.
Then, three weeks ago I walked into Von Maur and it was on sale. Over half off! Retailing for $198, I paid only $85. And, my friends, I got it hemmed for free, since Von Maur does that complimentary. (Oh how I love you, Von Maur!)
I know I’ve only got to wear it once before the end of the summer, but that’s ok. Maxi dresses will be back next year!
Dress – Sky (not on sale, but it’s here); Bracelets – Stella & Dot
I love a good peplum top…or in this case…dress. I think peplums are so flattering on so many different body types. I found this gem at Von Maur. On sale. For $48. That’s right! It was originally $198. I love when I find steals like this…makes me a little giddy and I may or may not be seen doing a happy dance in the dressing room.
This dress makes me feel feminine. Like a lady. And it helps that it’s in my favorite color, blue! Any chance I get, I love to wear my cheetah print DVF heels. They just add the right amount of pop to any outfit. (I won’t lie, it’s taken me quite a few wears to break them in though.) I added some more cheetah with my J. Crew bracelet.
Do you love the peplum trend?
