It’s been a chilly winter here in the ATL. I’ve worn more sweaters this year than the last two winters combined. I guess it’s a good excuse to wear this adorable sweater dress though, right? I’m not a huge bell sleeve fan, but I can handle that they aren’t overly huge on this Eliza J dress. (Bummer it’s sold out, but this grey one is almost identical!) I like that the sleeves hit at my wrists instead of going any longer.
I’ve tried to wear these over-the-knee Vince Camuto Madolee boots as much as possible. They are actually comfortable, probably due to the lower heel and the chunkier width of the heel as well. I got these last summer during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale – yes, that long ago! – and now they are over $100 off of the retail price. If you have been eyeing these, I do recommend them. Just a few things to note: 1. My calf is about 15″ and these are a perfect fit. They get too tight if I try to wear skinnies with them, so I stick with leggings. 2. Size up. I always wear an 8.5, and a bunch of bloggers said to size up a half size and I’m so glad I listened. 3. These are the Foxy color, which look SO different on Nordstrom’s website. They look brown on the site and you can see they are more of a gray.
I’ve almost survived my busy season at work…only a couple more weeks to go. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. While working non-stop, I can’t tell you how much I’ve had these jeans and booties on repeat. I purchased them during the Nordstrom sale during the summer, and they were definitely A+ purchases.
I didn’t realize how much in my closet goes with this dark gray color of the Vince Camuto Karinta block heeled bootie. And since I’ve worn them so much, I can tell you with confidence that these are actually comfortable. They have a good amount of padding in the ball of the foot and with the thick block heel, I don’t have any heel pain at the end of the day (I tend to put my weight in my heels).
AG is one of my favorite brands, so I knew I would love these jeans. I have to say I listened to a blogger who tried them on and said to size up, and I probably should have ordered my typical size. Granted, yes, they are super skinny jeans and are snug when you first put them on, but they do stretch out while you wear them. I love the distressed hem on these…it’s even subtle enough for my casual office.
What’s also great about this post? These two items are on sale back to what they were during the Nordstrom sale this summer! So maybe it’s good I waited to share this post with you anyway 🙂 Happy shopping!
No, I just didn’t go on vacation…this was taken towards the end of last summer. I grabbed this awesome Mara Hoffman one piece on super sale via Gilt. I have to admit with all of the criss crosses, I had to go back to the model picture to see how to wear it properly – ha!
I’ve done a few posts over the years (here and here) talking about how great one piece suits have become! I’m so glad there are so many options now for those of us who like the additional coverage. Even though, I’ve seen a few one pieces that have less fabric that a two piece 🙂 When I’m searching for a one piece, I like fun colors, patterns, intricate backs or front designs, full seat coverage, etc. If you try on swim suits at the store and you’re questioning how it looks on you, I’d suggest buying it and trying it on at home. The lighting in some dressing rooms is horrible and unflattering! I know I don’t wear a swimsuit in fluorescent lighting!
I pinned a few awesome one piece options that are available right now at Nordstrom. Why did I just choose Nordstrom? Because they have free shipping and free returns! I may have bought one of these for our upcoming cruise…can you guess which one?
I have a love hate relationship with swimsuits. A lot of women probably feel the same way. Since I love to wear one pieces, I’m so happy that for the last few years, there are so many great options! Like with my clothes, I love details. With one pieces, one detail I love is when designers focus on the back. Above, that was one of my favorite swimsuits from last year from Nanette Lepore. The print attracted me, but once I saw the back, I was sold (well and it fit really well :)).
Can you believe it’s almost swimsuit season?! Spring breaks and winter get-a-ways are upon us. Last year when I wanted to purchase a few new suits, here’s what I did. I went to Bloomingdale’s and tried on all of my favorites. I took the coveted selfie in the mirror so I could remember how they fit and took pics of the tags so I could remember the size and style name. I purchased my absolute favorite at full price, but then I watched. And watched. A few of the ones I wanted were the designers I often see on Rue La La and Hautelook. So I knew exactly the size and style I wanted….and exactly how it would fit! Some of these sites have Final Sales with suits, so there was no need to worry about ordering a suit that didn’t fit. I got a Trina Turk and another Nanette Lepore for 60% off retail in the middle of summer. So if you can wait, it’s worth it.
Here are some suits I am eyeing this season. So happy there are SO many great options out there for those of us who love one pieces!
Nanette Lepore Santorini Goddess (this is actually the same suit I have on, but updated back)
What are some of your favorite brands of swimsuits?
Oh fit and flare…how I love thee…let me count the ways. This style of dress is by far my most favorite. It flatters almost every figure, and I love the way it fits my body type. I am always drawn to the navy and green combo; it’s been a favorite of mine for a long time. So when I saw this at Nordstrom’s big sale a few weeks ago, I knew I had to try it on. It ran small, so I had to order a size up. Of course they didn’t have the larger size, so I had to order it from another store. But, I love how Nordstrom will ship it to you for free!
Thought I would pair the dress with my absolute favorite brown sandals, which I may add that I have had for six years now. They go with so much! I remember my momma buying me these for my birthday one year. What a great present that has lasted so many seasons now! Gotta love great gifts like that 🙂

Do you ever stalk clothes? This is one dress I stalked at Nordstrom. This print. Love absolutely everything about it. The bright Irish kelly green. The hot pink and blue flowers. Color, color, and more color! It suits me to a tee. So when Nordstrom put this baby on sale – BAM – I jetted to my local store to try it on. And yeah. I fell in love. So it came home with me. Yeah I know. Y’all are so shocked. Not really 🙂
Well, I’m not Irish, but I do love green! But for those of you who are Irish…Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you! Hope your Irish Eyes Are Smilin’ today 🙂 Here are a few great green items at Nordstroms!

I cannot believe it’s February! Where on earth did January go?! But that means one more month down until Spring Break. Which also means one more month down until you may have to get into a swimsuit. Some may be saying, “Bring. It. On.” Others may be saying, “Oh heck no. I’m not ready!” No matter what you say, you may be looking for some great new options for your upcoming trip (or even for summer).
Last year, I did a blog post about one piece swimsuits – and how they can be cute! Not everyone’s body is made for a bikini. In high school, I was that girl who wore the string bikini. And after mommyhood, stretch marks appeared. While they have faded, I’m still super self conscious and prefer to wear a one piece. The good thing? There are so many great one piece options!
My favorite one piece last year was Robin Piccone’s “Penelope” Crochet Overlay. It gives that illusion of a two-piece, but the coverage that I want. Currently I only see black online, but hopefully they will have more colors as Spring Break nears! Here is the swimsuit on a real body vs. a skinny mini model 🙂
Here are some great one piece options from Nordstrom.com. Love shopping Nordstrom.com – free shipping and returns. So you can order a few suits, even in multiple sizes, and just return them for free. Now that’s a great way to shop. Click on each image to see details.
Where do you love to buy swimsuits? Where do you have the best luck?
Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! I’ve been traveling a bit and have kind of neglected the blog (sorry, blog), but I get a week and a half off of work so maybe I’ll actually get caught up on some posts I’ve been wanting to do…just maybe 🙂
I love a great red dress. I love it even more when I can wear it to work too! This cute Betsey Johnson dress jumped off the rack at me at Nordstrom. Not only did I love the color, but fit and flare is by far my favorite dress shape.
The texture of this dress is perfect for winter. Makes me think of a cable knit ski sweater. I wanted to pair it with black tights and pops of animal print. If you’ve ever read my blog, you know I love animal print.
This gold necklace I got from Stella & Dot years ago, and it has become a great staple piece. It goes with everything – so simple, yet elegant and makes a subtle statement at the same time. They have a similar style now that you can find here.
I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas! Hopefully Santa brings you everything you wished for!

It’s the classic case of “went in to the store to try on one pair of shoes, but ended up with a completely different pair!” Thanks, Nordstrom shoe man 🙂
I can’t believe how comfortable these Vince Camuto Effel Sandals were when I put them on! The leather is so incredibly soft. Ankle strap shoes can also be sketchy sometimes – they can be too tight or hit on your ankle bone wrong. But not these, which I think has to do with how soft the leather is in general. The heel height is just right, too…at 3.25″. Some might think that is high, but the heel is nice and thick – and so easy to walk in. Trust me.
My first time wearing them, I thought I would pair them with a camel colored pencil skirt and orange pencil top. Can you also tell I still had my spray tan – oh how I miss thee!?!
Yeah, yeah. I’m definitely one of those women who doesn’t love swimsuit season. Now, I am 100% comfortable in my skin when I am clothed, as I have really learned how to dress myself to accentuate my assets. It’s when I have to put on a swimsuit, the self-conscious switch turns on. I have the “mommy tummy” where the lower belly skin isn’t exactly the tightest…and lots of stretch marks. BUT, I earned those stripes – and I remind myself I grew two very healthy babies in my belly. I’m proud of them!
So, I may wear a bikini when I have a spray tan and the stretch marks don’t show as much…but my usual swimsuit is a one piece or tankini. There are so many options out there! One piece swimsuits can be just as cute as those teeny weeny bikinis. I’m heading on a beach vacay in less than two months, so I went out and pinned a few suits I want to keep my eye on. Many of them were at Nordstrom, so I need to make a trip in there to see how they look.
Do you feel more comfortable in one pieces, tankinis, or a bikini?
