If you’ve followed my blog at all, you can probably guess what brand this dress is…yep! Ted Baker London. He’s my fav. I’ve actually had this dress for a year, and I finally cut the tags off for my annual work party. It’s a chance for all of us to get dressed up and have fun for the night.
Body con dresses are one of my favorite cuts, second to the fit and flare. And cobalt blue – definitely one of my favorite colors. The mesh detail at the top gives it just the little detail it needed.
I’ve also had these Michael Kors shoes forever. I tried on a few different pairs, not sure if I wanted to do a leopard print instead. The black won out, obviously. Some silver jewelry – and voila! I was ready to go. Of course I got some makeup eye color suggestions from my cousin because she’s the best makeup artist around 🙂
Y’all know I’m a huge sucker for dresses. Even a bigger sucker for fit and flare dresses! When I saw this color combo of teal and coral, I couldn’t resist (and I had a ton of Banana rewards). It’s so flowy and silky…and girlie. I kind of acted like I was five years old twirling around in it 🙂 When you feel good in your clothes, it’s amazing how it can change your whole mood for the day. This dress, it did just that. You can grab it on sale, but you have a better chance seeing if they have it in stores because it’s getting very low online. It’s totally worth the hunt though!
This weather has been unreal lately! I’m not complaining about not having to wear a heavy winter coat or gloves or hat or snow boots…BUT…we had an awfully hot summer, so I’m looking forward to wearing sweaters! Mother Nature has been teasing us. But I welcomed the tease to wear this pretty burnt orange cowl neck sweater from The Limited.
I can’t tell you how many great sweaters I have hanging in my closet that are begging to be worn. Luckily this one is slightly thinner, so I won’t burn up in the 65 degree weather. Also love how it is longer so I can wear leggings and not feel like my booty is exposed at work.
I have to give a shout out to these boots. They were one of my first pairs I purchased five years ago. They have been worn countless times…I love their slouch and low heel that makes them so comfortable. Enzo Angiolini did a great job designing these.
In the South, there are a days of the winter where tights are not needed. Yay! So on a mild day, I decided to wear a dress and ditch the tights and just go with boot socks. And I wasn’t even chilly – don’t hate friends back in the Midwest!
This dress caught my eye a few months ago, but I didn’t want to pay full price. So I waited patiently. It was hard because I saw one of my favorite bloggers wear it, and I wanted to run to my nearest Anthro to pick it up. But, I resisted. Patience is a virtue…and pays off. Not only was it on sale, it was also another 25% off (click here).
Y’all know I have a slight obsession with Frye. I got these Carmen Inside Zip boots on sale, and they are quickly becoming my favorites. I love that they have a slight heel. For those of you with normal sized calves like me, they fit great, even with skinny jeans. I don’t buy boots with less than a 15″ shaft circumference.
I also love having little arm parties. My parents gave me this gorgeous Hermes bracelet for Christmas. Before you even say a word, yes, I know my parents have spoiled me and I’m blessed I get to call them MY parents! I used to have my friends ask me “Don’t your parents need one more daughter?!” Nope. They are all mine. Oh wait, is that the only child spoiled brat coming out? 🙂

Last week, I featured one of the great dresses I got in my latest Stitch Fix. Well…drum roll please…here is the other one I kept. My Stitch Fix stylist listened to exactly what I wanted – “a great fall print dress!” Doesn’t this dress fit that perfectly?! The colors. The print. They are divine!
Now, I love dresses. Sometimes too much. But I don’t have any dresses with such a great print like this. The fabric is so sturdy and thick enough to keep me warm in the late fall and winter if I pair it with tights. The fit and flare style has definitely become my favorite cut.
Not only do I love dresses, but also purses rank high on my list. And I carry a lot o’ crap in my purse…I think it’s a mom thing. But I’ve got to carry stuff “just because I might need it.” Puuuhhhhlllleeeeeze. I never use half of it. Anyway…I had my eye on this Henri Bendel beauty since it came out. It comes in so many beautiful colors, but this rich brown caught my eye. It’s such a great quality leather that will last forever…and a day. Then I had a discount…and I bought myself a present. 🙂
Dress – via Stitch Fix; Necklace – Spartina; Watch – Michael Kors; Bracelet – Tory Burch; Purse – Henri Bendel Carlyle Tote; Shoes – Christian Louboutin
I got this dress in my latest Stitch Fix. I had asked them for fall dresses, and they sent me four great choices. I immediately fell in love with this Tart fit & flare dress. For starters, the fabric is so soft. It’s like wearing a nightgown! There are so many different ways you can wear this black and white snakeskin print.
I definitely wanted to wear this to work, so I thought it would look cute with a little black blazer – that I have had for years! It’s one of those items that you leave hanging in your closet because you just never know when you are going to wear it.
I hadn’t worn my turquoise necklace for a while, so I choice that as my pop of color for this outfit. My bracelet has the same pop of color.
I’m always a sucker for details, and this back is no exception. Love, love, love the cutout in the back! But boy do I need a spray tan. I am pastey! Hope I’m not blinding you with my whiteness on your screen 🙂
Come back soon to see the other fall dress I kept out of my Stitch Fix!
Dress – Tart via Stitch Fix (same dress, different style here); Jacket – Jolt; Shoes – Michael Kors; Necklace – Stella & Dot; Bracelets – Michael Kors and Stella & Dot
I love easy, no-think outfits. And this dress fits the bill perfectly. The fabric is fantastic – and it has a built-in shelf bra. Easy peasy. Let’s not forget how great the colors are!! Just throw on and go!
Dress – JMcLaughlin; Sandals – Sam Edelman; Watch – Michael Kors; Bracelets – Michael Kors and Stella & Dot; Earrings – Coach
Now, I am very fair skinned. As in someone once teased me by calling me Casper The Ghost. But, I just kept thinking in the back of my head, “Go ahead and make fun of me, sun worshipper. When we’re both 50, I’ll look 40 and you’ll look 60 with sun damage.” So, that’s that. 🙂
I’ve been hesitant to wear white because I’m so pale. But, when I tried on this dress at Banana, I knew I had to have it. The fit. The flare. The comfy fabric. The A-line. White dresses have been all the rage this summer. And it doesn’t look bad – the white on white. Just added some pops of color – and voila. I’m embracing the pale!

It’s finally summer – yahoo! And summer means fun colors.
Wait. I love fun colors no matter what time of year! But, I digress. 🙂
Black and pink has been a favorite combination of mine, well, like foreva! What can I say, I’m a girlie girl and love my pink. Pastel or hot!
Here’s a crochet tank that I got in my first Stitch Fix (look for a post next week), and at first I didn’t really like it. But, I’m always up to step outside my box. I’m glad I did because I really liked it once i put it on! Thought I could dress it up a little with a statement necklace, skinnies, and heels. Voila!
Tank – Stitch Fix; Jeans – Old Navy; Shoes – Michael Kors; Necklace – J. Crew; Bracelets – Michael Kors and Stella & Dot; Watch – Rolex
I love stripes. It’s kind of ridiculous how many striped pieces of clothing I own. But, if you love it, does it really matter? I think not.
I have been also been loving leggings. I have two pair that are fairly thick and keep my gams warm on chilly days.
So here are my two favorite things – stripes and leggings.
I love when Daisy Mae photobombs me – and gives me a big ol’ kiss!
Dress – French Connection; Leggings – Cache; Booties – Frye Regina Wedge; Watch – Michael Kors
I love wearing boots. Love. It. I am a huge Frye fan, and I love being able to wear my favorite boots. Georgia has still been pretty warm, and I have to admit when I wore this, I was pretty much sweating in the afternoon (Boo!). But, it’s mid-October, people! It’s time to wear some boots. And a scarf!
I bought this scarf last year at Von Maur. I have worn it so many ways, I can’t even count. With colored denim, with skirts, with black, with cobalt blue, and the list goes on. I was always hesitant on wearing brown and black together. Why? I don’t know. I’m just weird that way I guess. So I opted for a cream sweater so I could wear my brown denim.
(Please excuse the massive cheese on my face…the hubs was making me laugh!)
Top – Old Navy; Jeans – AG; Boots – Frye; Scarf – Von Maur; Earring – Stella & Dot; Watch – Michael Kors
I remember when denim on denim was the “it” thing circa 1994ish. Then it was a fashion no-no. But now…it’s back. I have to say I don’t think matching denim is my taste, but I love a darker denim jean with a lighter chambray/denim top. Here’s how I pulled it off (well, at least in my mind) the other day.
Shirt – J. Crew; Jeans – 7 for all Mankind; Shoes – Pour La Victoire; Watch – Michael Kors
I also hadn’t worn a few of my favorite Stella & Dot pieces in a while, so I busted those out of my jewelry drawer. I used to be a S&D Independent Stylist, so that’s one reason you see me wearing so much S&D. If you love green, these two pieces are great additions to your jewelry collection. And the ring is comfortable. I know some sizable rings end up digging into your finger, but not this one!
In the morning, the weather is so pleasant – a cool 65 degrees. But then, it warms up to above 80. In October. So, I haven’t transitioned too much into fall yet because the weather is still so warm here in Georgia. I just can’t wear layers or tall boots quite yet. I hate sweating when it’s not in a gym.
So last week, I did bust out a couple of my sweaters. I love colors, as they both happen to be neon. And as I look back it’s also a good way to show these wedges, too. With rolled up jeans and with bootcut.
So here’s a sweater I picked up at J. Crew a few weeks ago. I love the light neon orange. I know a lot of women have been doing slouchy, rolled up jeans with pumps, but I wanted to put my own twist on it with wedges.
Sweater, Necklace, and Belt – J. Crew; Jeans – Paige Premium Denim; Wedges – 7 for all Mankind; Watch – Michael Kors; Bracelet – Stella & Dot…and oops…forgot to take off my Fit Bit Flex!
Two days later, I wore a very similar look. Neon sweater, statement necklace, and wedges. But, I opted for no belt and bootcut jeans. The look changes with just the different jeans.
Sweater – J. Crew Factory; Jeans and Wedges – 7 for all Mankind; Necklace – Stella & Dot; Watch – Michael Kors
Have you transitioned into fall or is it still too warm outside for you?
I love a fun print, and couldn’t resist picking up the shirt with lip prints all over it from The Limited. Thought I would also do a little pattern mixing with the stripe shoe. Love it or hate it? I love it.
And on a side note, I would like to point out I’ve had these Old Navy red skinnies for two years now, and they look exactly the same as the day I bought them. I have worn them a TON, and they wash so well!
Shirt – The Limited; Jeans – Old Navy; Shoes – Splendid; Watch – Michael Kors; Necklace – Stella & Dot
Do I realize this happened a week ago? Well, yes. Yes, I do. But better late than never, right?
I’ve always loved football. I cheered for the high school team for all four years, so that’s when I really started loving the game…and understanding how it’s played. A part of me wishes I had gone to a college where we even had football. Sadly, Bradley U doesn’t. So that’s why I’m such a huge Iowa fan. Gotta love my dad and mom’s school.
I have to admit, I love college ball more than the NFL. But, I love when we get to go to games. Last week the Falcons played the Patriots…with an 8:30 p.m. start time (the NFL didn’t ask me when I usually went to bed and how cranky I would be the next day!). I’m the type of fan who like to wear the team swag. And it was such a beautiful night, I even got to bust out my short booties for the first time this season! So here’s my game night ensemble.
T-shirt – Victoria’s Secret Pink; Jeans – Old Navy; Boots – Frye; Watch – Michael Kors; Earrings – Simon Sebbag
I know I live in the ATL, but I love me some Tom Brady!!
It’s Tony G!!!
And here some the Falcons!
The Falcons ended up losing, but it was a great game to watch and be a part of the crowd!
Now, I know it’s the middle of September, but I’m still holding on to wearing my wedges. When it’s above 80 degrees, I think that is perfectly fine. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I wore these red wedges twice last week. I love them! I got them off of Rue La La in the spring, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn them.
I had been waiting for this dress to go on sale at J. Crew. So when I saw it was on sale PLUS another 30% off, I kind of did a small happy dance in the sale section. Shhhhh. Don’t tell anyone. I couldn’t tell if it was navy or black. But after doing the holding-it-up-to-another-black-item, my scientific experiment concluded that it was indeed black. I’ve always loved black and red together. So here’s my combo…
Then a few days later, I thought I would yet again wear red. This skirt from Banana is ridiculously comfortable. I’ve been into mixing patterns, so I thought adding the polka dot chambray with the stripes would be a good combo. And I thought a little tying of the blouse was something a little different for me. See what you think…

Like I said last week, work has been insane lately. So the hubs surprised me with a little night out to do some retail therapy last weekend. I know it sounds so silly, but just going to the mall and browsing through all of the new clothes, purses, scarves, shoes, etc. for fall was very therapeutic. I did score some good deals, which made it an even better trip!
Since I knew I was going to probably (ok, most definitely) be trying on some clothes, I wanted to wear something easy. I picked up this dress from Juicy Couture last year on super sale. I haven’t worn it much because it’s a little on the short side to wear to work. But not for this occasion.
Dress – Juicy Couture; Sandals – Sam Edelman; Bracelets – Michael Kors and Stella & Dot (and my FitBit…forgot to take it off – LOL)
I discovered Versona Accessories a few weekends ago. It reminds me a lot of Charming Charlie’s, but this store is closer to my house, which is an added plus. I have my fair share of statement necklaces, but once I spotted this one with different shades of mint, I was sold. And when I turned over the price tag and saw $17.99…it was a no brainer in my book.
Minty colors coordinate so well with many different types of colors. For this outfit, I wanted to pull in some other texture with the sequins. So I tried navy and mint – and I love how the combo turned out.
What are your favorite colors to pair with mint?
I used to wear blazer all the time at a previous employer. Believe it or not, they still required business dress e-v-e-r-y day. So let’s just say when I left that employer and got to dress business casual, blazers quickly moved to the back of the closet.
But, I found this bright beauty at Macy’s when I was in Chicago this summer. For a whopping $30. That’s right. Michael Michael Kors linen blazer for $30. Don’t mind if I do. It also went so well with the earrings the hubs picked up for me when he was on a business trip in NH (insert awwwwww’s here please).
Kind of a funny story about when I wore this, too. We had a new client come in that day and my “brotha from anotha motha” was in there with me – he has a keen eye for fashion as well. When we were talking about the design of their materials he goes “Well, it’s obvious that Emily isn’t afraid of color.” And everyone just laughed. But he’s right. I’m not. And I love it.
So here’s how I styled my new bright blazer…
Blazer – Michael Michael Kors; Tshirt – The Limited; Jeans – Madewell; Shoes – Charles by Charles David; Watch – Michael Kors; Necklace – Stella & Dot; Earrings – gift from the hubs
All I have to say is I. LOVE. THIS. WATCH. It was pretty much love at first sight. A friend of mine had received this watch for her birthday, I tried it on at lunch when she showed me, and told the hubs I had to have it. He’s smart and listens when I say I like something or have an idea for a gift…so it was sitting under the Christmas tree for me in 2011.
Michael Kors watches have been all the rage for the last two years. If you take a walk around my office, you’ll see about 1/2 of us ladies with MK watches on! (Yes, we’re a stylish group of Benefits folks!)
It literally goes with everything. Dress it up or dress it down. I get tons of compliments on it, too. I love the oversized face. It’s slightly more manly, but feminine at the same time. Here’s how I have worn it recently…
If you haven’t tried a MK watch on. Do it. You’ll fall in love. My momma even has one…with tortoise shell, too…and she loves it. Join the craze. I dare you 🙂
