Typically this type of blouse is not something I would pick up, but I loved the beautiful print. And I think the fluted sleeves are so much fun. There are so many colors that would go with this top. I have had this great J. Crew No. 2 pencil skirt forever, but I tried a light purple on with it too and it looked pretty. The Banana Republic website has a white skirt with it, but if you’ve followed me at all, y’all know I much rather prefer color over neutrals. This top is on sale right now, so don’t miss out on a great deal!
This Daybreak dress I recently got a J. Crew Factory is easily going to be one of my favorites this summer. It is such a great cut – and it’s perfect to wear to work or for play. My office tends to be the temperature of a refrigerator, so adding a cardigan to the look was easy – and cute. The dress comes in so many different colors. My coworker had the hot pink one on the other day with a chunky gold necklace, and it looked absolutely adorable. Also, getting it at the Factory store guaranteed a great price too. They always have incredible sales! And yay to that!
Spring has sprung…or has it? The temperatures in the south have been so crazy! It’s 80. It’s 55. It’s 67. Make. Up. Your. Mind. But Mother Nature has been very indecisive lately. But…it doesn’t stop me from wearing a fun floral top and bright pencil skirt. So take that, Mother Nature.
I got this blouse in a Stitch Fix. I had asked my stylist for fun print tops, and this one definitely delivered. There’s so many ways to style this blouse, but I thought it would be fun with a bright No. 2 pencil skirt from J. Crew. These skirts are so timeless; and they always go on sale!
I was always a little unsure of the vest trend. But when J. Crew Factory has one of their great 40% off the whole store deals, I thought why not? I went with navy, since blue is one of my favorite colors and I knew I had a ton of different options to wear underneath.
I can’t tell you how much I have worn this vest! My other favorite way to wear it is with a plaid shirt underneath. It’s so easy just to throw on some skinnies and boots – and you’re done! Easy outfits are my favorite 🙂
Vest – J. Crew Factory (on sale!); Shirt – The Limited Perfect Tee (similar); Jeans – AG (similar); Boots – Frye Carmen Inside Zip (similar); Earrings – Stella & Dot (retired, but these are similar); Bracelet – Louis Vuitton Save It
I love jeans. So freakin’ much. I love how you can easily dress them up with the right top, shoes, and accessories. I found this great flowy blouse at Loft recently…which with the weather we are having I didn’t even have to wear a coat over it that night! I thought layering necklaces with this higher neckline would look good, but I thought I’d add another wrinkle…one more necklace! I kept it somewhat easy with all of them being gold and clear crystal, but they all had varying styles and lengths. Not to pat myself on the back, but I really like how the look turned out 🙂 Love when I step outside of the box and try something new.
Shirt – Loft; Jeans – Joe’s (similar); Shoes – Christian Louboutin; Earrings – kate spade (similar); Shorter Necklace – Stella & Dot; Medium Necklace – J. Crew Factory (sold out); Long Necklace – J. Crew Factory (sold out)
I’m a typical girl. I love jewelry. But, I have an exception to that statement. I love jewelry that can be worn so many ways. And these two necklaces and earrings are exactly what I’m referring to. Being clear stones, they go with everything! Even dressing up this flannel plaid shirt from J. Crew Factory.
The best part of this jewelry…ridiculously affordable. The longer necklace I picked up this fall at J. Crew Factory. Uh…for a whopping $24. The shorter necklace I eyed from Stella & Dot for a long time, and I finally caved almost two years ago. Again, I knew it would go with so much, from shirts and sweaters to dresses. It’s under $60, and for those of you have bought S&D before, you know it’s so well made.
Let’s not forget about the earrings. Talk about go with literally every outfit! These Nancy studs from Stella & Dot are a must. And again…only $24. These have become some of my go-to earrings. They are the perfect size that doesn’t swallow my earlobe.
If you are going to spend any money on jewelry this fall, I highly recommend these three pieces!
The plaid shirt. It’s my favorite fall and winter item! I keep telling myself enough with the plaid, but there are so many great plaids out there! And in the colder months, I do love layering them under a cozy sweater. One thing I love about this Banana Republic shirt is the reversed print on the inside. It’s a great navy gingham. And let’s not forget to mention how soft it is! Pretty much like wearing a pajama shirt 🙂 (And it’s on sale – even bettaaaahhhh!)
I was on the hunt for some great (and comfortable) brown ankle booties. Do you know where I found these? The Aerosoles outlet store! I thought Aerosoles were kind of “old lady” shoes for their comfort factor, but they had some very cute styles! I have become a fan…and I got a TON of compliments on them when I wore them to work.
Another great find at J. Crew Factory was this jeweled necklace. It goes with literally everything. And what a bargain getting it half off for around $25.
This top is like wearing artwork. I immediately gravitated towards it on the Anthro sales rack (I can’t find it online anymore – sorry!). I love clothes that are unique and colorful – and this top is most definitely both of those. With all of these great colors, I knew I had a few ways to style this, the first one being with this orangey J. Crew No. 2 pencil skirt. I have a blue pencil skirt that goes great too, but I like how the orange pulls from the faux belt in the top. I think it just ties it all together.
Happy Monday, everyone!
In my latest Stitch Fix, I asked my stylist to focus just on shirts…specifically short sleeve or sleeveless shirts for this hot summer in the south. And this is one of the beauties that I got! Blue is one of my favorite colors and this print is just fantastic! As soon as I tried it on, I knew I could pair it with this J. Crew No. 2 pencil I picked up at the end of last summer. It’s such a great lightweight, silky (well polyester) shirt that can be worn so many different ways.
And can I tell you how much I love this new coral/orange lipstick from Lipstick Queen? Well, I do! I’ve always been afraid of that color, but many times this summer I kept saying to myself I wish I had that color for certain outfits! So I stepped outside my comfort zone – and voila! A fun new lip color that is actually called Fire Red…not quite sure I see the red in it though!
Shirt – via Stitch Fix; Skirt – J. Crew No. 2 Pencil; Wedges – Charles by Charles David (old); Necklace – via Stitch Fix; Bracelet – Henri Bendel (old); Watch – Rolex; Earrings – kate spade (similar); Lipstick – Lipstick Queen Saint Fire Red
Taking a vacation to the Caribbean is the perfect time to wear your bright, tropical-colored clothes! This Ted Baker Blisse Chameleon Print Tee just fit in when we stopped in Cozumel. Tropical flowers and adorable chameleons and jewels – oh my! I thought with such a bright shirt might as well turn up the brightness a notch with bright green shorts! Why not?!
Happy Monday, everyone!
A lot of times, you might tend to build your outfit off of your shirt or pants. But then. You find these awesome shoes. And you want to build your outfit around them.
In walk (no pun intended) Sam Edelman’s Anastasia Cutout Sandals. Or should I say “in walks Ems to the Von Maur shoe sale room about four times before these were at the right price to finally buy?!?!?”
Aren’t they gorgeous? I just couldn’t resist. I love a great statement shoe. And this is definitely a statement shoe. So I built my outfit for work around them. A simple black top and pencil skirt – and I’m ready for work!
Oh hey, FitBit Flex, let me take you off since you aren’t the most fashion-forward “bracelet.” But if you are a FitBit wearer, you understand how your wrist feels naked when it’s not on!
Shoes – Sam Edelman Anastasia Cutout Suede Bootie (not on Von Maur’s site, but found here); Shirt – White House Black Market (old); Skirt – J. Crew Factory; Bracelets – Stella & Dot and Henri Bendel; Earrings – Vintage Chanel; Watch – Rolex
To me, this was an easy outfit. Do you ever have one of those mornings when you are feeling rushed and just need to hurry up and get the heck out the door? In the ATL, I have about a 10-minute window that if I don’t hit it, I’m stuck in traffic. As in taking me an hour to get to work 😦
So…this outfit came together super easy on my rushed morning. Love a good silk button up. Love a good statement necklace. Love a good pair of skinnies. Love leopard print. Add them all up and voila! Here’s what you got!
My team member at work came to work one day and said “Emily, you have go to get these!” She understands my love for fashion. So for $20 (on sale!) at Old Navy, I couldn’t resist. I love trying new skinnies. And these are pull-on…circa my maternity pant wearing days! I am prone to buying dark wash too because they just make jeans seem a little dressier – at least in my mind. I’ve worn them a few times now, and I highly recommend them. They keep their shape all day and do not stretch out or appear baggy after a few hours. And for under $30, you can’t beat it!
Now, I love wearing high heels, but I’ve been on the hunt for some leopard print flats. Or kitten heels would do, too. And I finally found a pair! Where you ask? In my favorite store’s shoe sale room – Von Maur!! I’ve never own a pair of Isaac Mizrahi New York shoes before, and I am now a big fan. Super comfortable! And they are made so well.
So here you go…my easy go-to outfit. Do you have similar outfit for work that are your go-to?
To say I’ve been busy at work is an understatement. The blog is being a little neglected…but since I don’t make money from my blog and I do from my day job….day job comes first. I write employee benefits communication (hold the ooohs and aaaahhhhs please). It’s a great job and I work with some great people and clients. But my 4th quarter is insane to say the least.
Enough about work. On to the fashion…
I love a cute peplum top. And it worked so well with this $15 necklace I got at J. Crew Factory a few weeks back. That’s right. $15. I was shocked! It was another 50% off the sale price. I love great statement necklaces like this; it could pair nicely with so many different looks. (Disregard the FitBit 🙂 )
I know tons of bloggers talked about their Nordstrom anniversary sales purchases over the summer. Well, these bootie were mine. I love the python heel to the added interest. They are the perfect height for me, too. I found them to be comfortable all day while wearing them at work.
I continue my love of the J. Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt (first talked about here). The end of the season is the best time to stock up on these gems. Why, you may ask? Because they are on sale! But I don’t love these skirts just because I can get them for a great deal. They are so well made.
Sturdy, cotton twill = Hides those flaws on the hips and booty!
They also come in fantastic colors. Primary, pastel, neon, print…the list goes on. I typically size down. I like mine to be more on the snug side. The only negative I have is the wrinkles – which you can obviously see in the photos. This was at the end of the day after I had been sitting at my desk all day 🙂 I wish the skirt could be perfectly pressed all day!
Skirt – J. Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt (on sale!!); Shirt – The Limited; Shoes – Charles by Charles David; Watch – Michael Kors; Bracelet, Necklace, Earrings – Tiffany
When I felt the fabric of this dress, I immediately thought of Scuba Steve in Big Daddy. I thought if Scuba Steve – or Diver Dan…whichever you choose – were a girl, this would be the chic wetsuit he would choose. It is such a cool dress, that can even keep you dry! 🙂
I do not own anything like this. The print is so adorable; I love the neon accents. With the wetsuit feel, it does a great job of holding you in, too.
Loved the price, too! It was $79.99 with an extra 50% off in the store! That was just right for me because there is no way I would pay $168.
Even has a longer pull on the zipper, just like a wetsuit.
Dress – J. Crew Cove Floral Surf Dress; Shoes – Ralph Lauren; Bracelets – J. Crew and Stella & Dot; Watch – Michael Kors; and the FitBit Flex 🙂

I’m continuing my trend of wearing a dress almost every day to work. It’s just been so freakin’ hot here! Dresses are my way to stay cool. Even though my frigid office requires me to turn on my personal space heater under my desk even when it’s 90 degrees outside 🙂
Y’all know I love to wear color. So when I bought this dress, buying a more muted color was a little outside of my box. But it’s such a great little dress, with a fun little flip at the bottom. I added a little pop of color with some neon accents in my necklace and bracelet.
Oh, and it was on sale. Yay! And if you have a J. Crew store near you, it’s actually on sale for less in the store than online!
Dress – J. Crew (on sale here!); Necklace and Bracelet – J. Crew; Shoes – Christian Louboutin; Watch – Michael Kors
Do you ever find yourself buying the same item in different colors because you love it so much? I rarely do this, but that is not the case with the J. Crew Tippi sweater.
I love this sweater for many reasons, including its versatility and being seasonless. I wear it basically three seasons out of four. It’s light enough to wear in the spring and the perfect layering sweater in the winter. This sweater is a staple of J. Crew, so you can definitely get them on sale at the end of basically every season. Here’s the sale Tippis and the new Tippis. Look at all the fabulous colors! I also always buy a size medium because I like it being roomy so I can layer it in the colder months.
Last week was weird weather in the ATL. Warm at the beginning of the week, but chilly and cold by Friday. I ended up wearing two of my Tippis last week, styled two different ways. Here’s what I did…
Jeans – Paige; Belt – Banana Republic; Necklace – Versona; Watch – Rolex; Sandals – Charles by Charles David
Shirt – Gap; Bracelet – Coach; Earrings – Stella & Dot; Watch – Michael Kors; Shoes – Ash

We went to a wonderful fundraiser last weekend, Shamrockin’ For A Cure. It helps raise money for cystic fibrosis. It was a wonderful time for a wonderful cause!
Of course I wanted to be festive, so I busted out two different greens! I thought it was just festive enough for the occasion. The weather was perfect. I could wear two layers and no coat. Since I went last year, I knew I would be on my feet the whole night, so I wanted to wear comfortable shoes.
Sweater – J. Crew; Shirt – J. Crew Factory; Jeans – AG; Boots – Anzo Angiolini; Watch – Michael Kors; Bracelets – Stella & Dot and Michael Kors
I also thought it would be festive to have my “Irish Eyes.” I used two green Smashbox eyeshadows and a hunter green Urban Decay eyeliner. I love playing with eye makeup – and this occasion was the perfect time to play!
I asked for this necklace for Christmas, and was so happy it was wrapped in a pretty little box under the tree. It has such awesome colors – including neon! So when I was deciding what to wear, I thought, why the heck not make my entire outfit colorful?!
So I had a neon yellow/greenish sweater from forever ago (that I about got rid of this year) and the Camden pink pants from Banana Republic to make my colorful outfit complete. And let’s not forget the touch of leopard print in the shoes. Leopard goes with everything, right?!
Sweater and Pants – Banana Republic; Necklace – J. Crew; Shoes – Coach; Watch – Banana Republic
