If you’ve followed my blog at all, you can probably guess what brand this dress is…yep! Ted Baker London. He’s my fav. I’ve actually had this dress for a year, and I finally cut the tags off for my annual work party. It’s a chance for all of us to get dressed up and have fun for the night.
Body con dresses are one of my favorite cuts, second to the fit and flare. And cobalt blue – definitely one of my favorite colors. The mesh detail at the top gives it just the little detail it needed.
I’ve also had these Michael Kors shoes forever. I tried on a few different pairs, not sure if I wanted to do a leopard print instead. The black won out, obviously. Some silver jewelry – and voila! I was ready to go. Of course I got some makeup eye color suggestions from my cousin because she’s the best makeup artist around 🙂
I love my work’s annual party. We all get dressed up and have a fantastic time eating, drinking, and playing with fake money at a Casino Night. For the second year (last year here), I went with my man Ted Baker for another fantastic dress. Last year, I went pale pink. This year I thought I would kick it up a notch with Ted Baker’s Jineen.
Oh I’m sorry. Did I blind you? It looks brighter on camera than in person. But y’all know I love me some color. And this my friends is the epitome of color. It was cold here in the ATL last weekend, so I had to put on black tights underneath because my legs were freezing (and let’s not lie…I didn’t want to shave my legs!).
When I knew I wanted to wear this dress, I went to my number one source for makeup and hair advice – my wonderful and talented cousin, Heather. She recommended a smokey brown eye and pale pink lip. So, that’s what I did! And I think her advice was spot on. I’m so lucky to be able to get her advice whenever I need it. Every woman needs a Heather.
I happened to have this necklace from J. Crew from last year. I think it really pulled together the black tights. Love the various colors of not only the pink, but blue, green, yellow, and black.
I own a lot of purses, but I don’t own a lot of “going out” bags. Luckily I had this great black clutch from Stella & Dot from a few years back. It was the perfect size to hold all of my stuff.
Let’s not leave out some of the wonderful women I work with – I’m so lucky! A couple of comments I heard about this photo: “Em, we look like we are at your bachelorette party” and “Are we your backup dancers or something?” Ha! Nothing like standing out 🙂

I purchased this little beauty when I was in Boston. When I went into the Nanette Lepore store on Newbury street, I made a bee line to the sales section. And I’ve very glad the super sweet sales girl said, “We have a lot more sizes in the back.” Thank goodness, since all they had out on the racks were 0s…and I’m definitely not a 0.
The print is what makes this dress. It’s just fun. And who doesn’t want to wear something fun?! To me, I think it’s also a seasonless dress. You can wear it with tights like I did for a chilly winter night, or pair it with cute strappy heels in the summer. I love all of the colors…and it was fun wearing a big, bright lipstick, too. I am a huge fan of mixing lipsticks. This is a bright red and hot pink combo.
Also, do you like my “I’m sorry I had to leave you for a business trip because I know you are going to be snowed in for the next two days with the kids” necklace? The hubs definitely didn’t have to do that, but it was much appreciated. 🙂
The other day, I posted about my trip to Boston. I went up there to attend my husband’s annual work party. And I have to say for a work party – it was a blast. With about 1,000 people there, everyone was having a great time. Eating, drinking, and dancing. What a fun company!
I’ve had this dress from Banana Republic for a while, and I absolutely loved it. I hate taking pictures with my little Sure Shot, but when it has to fit in a clutch, it’s all I got! 🙂 The hot pink piping is my favorite part – and I’ve always like the red and pink combo. I guess it was perfect for around Valentine’s Day.

The next night, we headed to a great sushi place for dinner. Of course I wanted to wear another dress. This Juicy Couture dress was on sale right before Christmas. It was one of those “Hey, husband, I want this dress. Can you order it and put it under the tree for me?” It’s a great knit dress with cute jewels at the top. I knew I wanted to wear tights, since it was a wee bit chilly in Boston. And let’s not forget to mention how much I love the zipper that goes all the way down the back. It’s all about the details in my book.

Do you love to dress up as much as I do?
Dressing up is one of my favorite things. I’ve always loved it – from the days playing dress up with my best friend Melissa in my basement when we were little. Putting on a little more makeup. Slipping on a beautiful dress that makes me feel good. Love it!
I had my annual work party last weekend in downtown Atlanta. It was a casino night, and everyone had a ball! Food was excellent, drinks were flowing, and the music was right for everyone. The dress code was pretty much whatever you wanted it to be – so I chose cocktail.
Do I have a ton of dresses hanging in my closet? Absolutely. Did I find a Ted Baker dress I couldn’t pass up? Absolutely. It is like a dress I’ve never had before. It is a jacquard dress with such a cool deco pattern, and it fit perfectly. It had to come home with me. And it did. But then…after I got home and having a smidge of buyer’s remorse…we Googled the dress. AND WE FOUND IT MUCH CHEAPER! On Amazon of all places! So back to the store it went, and I ordered it online. You’ve gotta love when that happens.
I also found these awesome rose gold shoes on 6pm.com from Schutz. They are sold out now, but you can see the details here. I only paid $59. They were super high, but oh so cute and matched perfectly.
The dress is fun and flirty, so I wanted fun and flirty hair to match. I think it turned out pretty well. People called me a princess, prom queen, homecoming queen, bridesmaid (which I did NOT like), and Marilyn Monroe. I’m going with Marilyn Monroe as the best compliment, as I have always idolized her.
