First, I want to say that I’m here. I’m just fine. 🙂 My full-time career is managing employee benefit communications for clients, and this is the busiest time of year for me. So my time has to be devoted to my clients and less to my blog. So the next few months, posts will definitely be sporadic. So bear with me (and thank you for caring!).
Labor Day weekend we did get away for a few days to Ft. Walton Beach in Florida. Of course I had purchased a few things online at Lilly’s huge sale, but I went to the store in Mirmar Beach to see what they had left. I picked up this great skirt for about $35. I would much rather throw on a skirt or dress than shorts, so this is perfect for me. Cotton and comfy – so easy to throw on with just a white t-shirt! And look, I can even jump in it, LOL.
The girl got a few things at the sale too, including these super cute shorts and tank top. She loves her Lilly just like her momma! ❤ This shot is something we always try to do at the beach. I think we started it when she was probably 7 or so. I love taking photos like this so you can go back and compare how she’s growing up.
Vacation to the beach = wearing Lilly Pulitzer! I picked up this adorable Kassia dress on sale when I was in Charleston this summer. I just love all of the bright colors. You definitely wouldn’t lose me if I was in the dark. You also can’t be afraid of color to wear this Playa Hermosa print 🙂 It’s super light weight and perfect for humid and hot weather. If you couldn’t tell, this was also at the beginning of our Hilton Head vacation when my spray tan looked fab! I always love how I leave for vacation tanner than when I come home. Beauty of a fake tan!
Dress – Lilly Pulitzer Kassia Playa Hermosa; Wedges – Schutz (last year, but similar as an espadrille); Earrings – Kendra Scott Danielle; Bracelets – Henri Bendel (last year); Tory Burch Fitbit Flex holder
The last couple of years, I’ve added a couple of Lily Pulitzer pieces to my wardrobe. Now, some of the prints are not quite my style…but there are just some adorable fabrics lately. Take for instance, this adorable print!
I went in my first Lily Pulitzer store in Key West and this dress just jumped out at me. So of course when I tried it on, I knew it had to come home with me. The cut, the length, the print were perfect. And I had a trip to Hilton Head where I knew I could wear it. Lily is perfect for the beach!
I think I need to plan another beach trip just so I can wear this dress again soon. 🙂
Dress – Lily Pulizer; Shoes – Charles by Charles David; Earrings – The Limited; Bracelets – Coach and Stella & Dot; Watch – Rolex
I’m not one of those mommas who gained 50 pounds with each pregnancy and didn’t get one stretch mark. I got a sh*t ton. But, like most mommas, I take pride in my marks because I know I grew two awesome babes.
As the years have passed, they have faded. But, I won’t lie. I’m super self conscious about them. Now, I’ve worn the occasional two piece swimsuit since the kiddos were born, but I typically opt for the one piece. And it makes me so happy that there are such cute options for one pieces! I have a few of the Juicy Couture swim dresses, but opted for a couple of new suits this season.
First, we have this Robin Piccone Penelope Crochet Overlay suit that I picked up at Nordstrom. It’s the perfect mix of a one piece and two piece. And if you like a full coverage bottom, this suit is for you. I never had to worry about it riding up at all. It does run small though, which most swimsuits do. I typically wear a size 6 in most of my clothes, and I bought this suit in a size 10.
When Jessica Simpson hopped into one of her own swimsuits (the Seashells Bandeau) after losing weight, I wanted to try it on. I was really impressed with how it fit my curves. The suit doesn’t have as much rear coverage as the Robin Piccone, but it still does a good job and didn’t ride up at all when I was walking. I know this may sound silly, but it was kind of annoying when I had to go to the bathroom! I needed to keep the tie in the back tight, so trying to re-tie that myself in the bathroom was a big pain. But, I love the look of this suit, especially when I have a spray tan. It’s also hard to tell in the photo, but the body part of the suit is somewhat shear; it’s lined, but a little shear.
So are you a fan of one pieces? Have you found any great suits this season?

Last weekend, we visited Key West, Florida, for the first time. It’s a beautiful little beach town where you can relax or party hard. You can decide. Me, I chose the relaxing by the beach and pool with the occasional drink in hand and eating the fantastic food.
Now, I have to say I was probably THE most dressed up person on the entire island. But, I really don’t care. I love to dress up, so dress up I did. I didn’t do glitz and glam, but in this super casual place, I felt like I was definitely over dressed. It was fun though, dressing up and also enjoying my spray tan 🙂
If I go back there again, I will definitely pack differently. If I wear dresses at night, I will make sure I can wear flat sandals or flip flops. Cabs aren’t cheap – going just shy of 2 miles was about $12. I know…crazy! One night I did walk back from dinner in 4 inch platforms. Let’s just say by the time I got back to the hotel, my feet were very angry with me.
But…let’s get to the clothes!
Can you believe this is my first ever maxi skirt?! It is so comfortable and perfect to travel in. The weather was windy, cloudy, and a little cooler when we got there. But as soon as the sun came out, the scarf got ditched quickly.
So, it was a little cool with the breeze, so I definitely have a pashmina hidden in that purse. But I bought this dress at Poppy’s in Atlanta at a trunk show. It is an amazing fabric that packed very well. The wrinkles just fell out. If you follow this blog at all, y’all know I love stripes…and this color combination is one of my favs.
The hubs actually bought me this Hale Bob dress at the end of last summer off of Rue La La. So I guess it was a good to wear it on his birthday trip. Truthfully, I didn’t know how much I liked the funky print until I tried it on…and having a tan helps!
Dress – Hale Bob; Bracelet – Stella & Dot; Sandals – Charles by Charles David
We went out to the Westin on Sunset Key one night for dinner at Latitudes. Let’s just say it was the most gorgeous sunset dinner view I have ever seen. AND the food was amazing. I got this dress at the Juicy Couture store in Chicago last summer on super sale. Fun and vibrant for a tropical vacay! And since we love Disney cruises, it was fun seeing the Wonder pull out of the port.
Dress – Juicy Couture; Sandals – Charles by Charles David; Bracelet – Banana Republic
One of my coworkers and friends had been to Key West a couple of months beforehand and recommended going on a sunset cruise on the Hindu. It was so incredibly peaceful – and the sunset was breathtaking. I knew I was going to walk home after, so I opted for flip flops – thank goodness this maxi was short enough that I wasn’t tripping on it!
Dress – The Impeccable Pig; Flip flops – Henri Bendel; Bracelet – Tory Burch
Have you been to Key West? What did you pack to wear? Did you overpack like I did – as all I wore during the day was a swimsuit!
