I was always a little unsure of the vest trend. But when J. Crew Factory has one of their great 40% off the whole store deals, I thought why not? I went with navy, since blue is one of my favorite colors and I knew I had a ton of different options to wear underneath.
I can’t tell you how much I have worn this vest! My other favorite way to wear it is with a plaid shirt underneath. It’s so easy just to throw on some skinnies and boots – and you’re done! Easy outfits are my favorite 🙂

Fall weather is an enigma to me. One day it’s 75, the next it’s 50. So if I’m wearing sweaters in this weird transition, I try to make sure they are somewhat thin where I won’t break into a nasty sweat the second I step outside in the afternoon.
This sweater is now one of my favorites. I won’t lie. I have this in two colors. It’s nice and thin, and I love how it’s long in the back…you could easily get away with wearing legging with this and it would easily cover your assets. 🙂 And did I mention it’s on sale? And I’m sure Banana will have a wicked good sale for Black Friday, so it will be even cheaper!
Here is my 4th of July ensemble. Easy and simple. Navy stripe peplum top, dark skinnies, and red shoes. I saw this top on sale at Anthro and immediately tried it on. It’s a substantial fabric and is such a great fit. You can see on the website it has a thick navy belted bow, but I wasn’t feeling it at the time. Granted I was a little hot in jeans, but by the time the sun went down and with the breeze off the lake, it ended up being perfect. I’m also the type of girl who is always cold! 🙂
And I just had to share this pic of my girl…could she look any cuter…and patriotic?!?!
Sometimes a beautiful shirt just makes me happy. Yep. This one included. I scored this beauty at Annie Griffin’s warehouse sale in Atlanta. I just fell in love with the colors. I’ve added quite a few silk blouses to my closet. They are just easy outfits – just pair it with skinnies and some great jewelry…and walk out the door! Easy peasy.
And yes, I’ve jumped on the Kendra Scott Rayne bandwagon. But this necklace goes with so much! Versatile jewelry is the best kind of jewelry.
Shirt – Annie Griffin (similar, but a lot more than I paid!); Jeans – AG Absolute Legging; Shoes – Isaac Mizrahi (no longer available); Necklace – Kendra Scott; Earrings – Kendra Scott; Bracelet – Henri Bendel; Sunnies – kate spade
It’s been so dreary and gray in the ATL lately. So, I busted out some pastels to lighten my mood! My uniform lately has been layering a button up with a sweater.
I thought why not add a little sparkle to my uni?! This Stella & Dot Somervell necklace is exactly what this outfit needed. But that wasn’t enough. I need more sparkle (said in my best Christopher Walken voice)!
So I added some beautiful mint drop earrings my momma got me and a Kendra Scott bracelet. I love mint. I’m so happy this color became popular a few years ago and has stayed.
And yes, I added another Tippi sweater to my collection. When they are on sale plus an additional 40% off, it’s hard to resist!
Sweater – J. Crew Tippi; Shirt – Old Navy (old); Jeans – AG Angel Bootcut; Booties – Ash (old); Necklace – Stella & Dot Somervell; Bracelets – Kendra Scott Raegan and Henri Bendel; Earrings – gift, but similar here; Watch – Rolex; Ring – Lagos
When I moved to the South almost five years, for some reason I didn’t think I would really need my winter coats anymore. Uh yeah. Wrong answer. I’ve had maybe two mild winters where I only had to wear my heavy winter coat a handful of times. My coats I have had for seven plus years were just getting worn. So when I saw the Black Friday sale at Ted Baker, I immediately told the hubs that I would pretty please love the Ted Baker Nevia Wool Coat under the tree 🙂 I’m glad he had his listening ears on, since it showed up under the tree.
This coat is so versatile. Personally, I love how the funnel collar can stand tall and protect my face from the cold winter wind. I also love how you can fold the collar down as well.
If I had a complaint, it would have to be how the coat buttons. There is an inner button, but also the main button around the waist is buttoned internally. So, you really have to finagle the button. But I end up just wrapping the coat over and tying the belt and all is good 🙂
One thing I love about Ted Baker clothing is the attention to detail…hence the gorgeous lining! Just look at that print!
I hate cold hands. I always have gloves in every single coat I own. So I may or may not have purchased these gloves in the anticipation of unwrapping this coat. They are the softest leather! Oh, and they were on sale. And you can use them with your smartphone. Yay! No cold hands while answering a text!
Now, even though I LOVE my new coat and gloves…I’d love a mild Southern winter, Mother Nature 🙂
So…do you ever pick out your Christmas presents? While you are at the store? And watch it get put in a box? I rarely do that, but I definitely did with this adorable Wells jacket from J. McLaughlin. I had been on the hunt for a leather jacket, and when I saw it on sale in the store the middle of November, I had to tell the hubs to put it under the tree for me. I didn’t want it to be gone! Which is a good thing because now it’s gone on the website!
It is such a great quality jacket. I heart it so much. Nothing better than super soft buttery leather (wow that’s a lot of adjectives!). For this outfit, I paired it with yet another Christmas present – the Frye Patty Riding Bootie. Ok, ok. I have a slight obsession with Frye. But you can’t blame me for loving good quality shoes! And I take really good care of them so I know they will last forevaaaa!
Jacket – J. McLaughlin (sold out online); Shirt – Banana Republic; Jeans – AG Absolute Legging; Booties – Frye Patty Riding Bootie; Watch – Michael Kors; Necklace – fab’rik; Sunglasses – D&G (similar)

On Monday, I told you about my fascination with button ups. Well, my friends, it continues. I love being comfortable at work, yet look pulled together and not too casual. The Limited’s Ashton Blouse is perfect for this look.
The fabric is a drapey crepe, and it lays so well. It’s also the perfect V. It doesn’t plunge too much and gives just the right coverage for work. And if you are like me and want a shirt to go past your hip line, this is for you! It looks great with skinny jeans, but also looks great tucked in. It covers a good majority of the booty 🙂
I won’t lie – I just ordered another one in a beautiful purple color. Addiction kicking in!!!
Let me also talk for just a second about these AG Absolute Legging Extreme Skinnies. They are like wearing sweat pants. They have so much stretch…and the fabric is ridiculously soft. And don’t hate, but I got these amazing leggings for a whopping $59. I know; I have a knack for finding amazing deals sometimes. These have become my favorites!
To say I’ve been busy at work is an understatement. The blog is being a little neglected…but since I don’t make money from my blog and I do from my day job….day job comes first. I write employee benefits communication (hold the ooohs and aaaahhhhs please). It’s a great job and I work with some great people and clients. But my 4th quarter is insane to say the least.
Enough about work. On to the fashion…
I love a cute peplum top. And it worked so well with this $15 necklace I got at J. Crew Factory a few weeks back. That’s right. $15. I was shocked! It was another 50% off the sale price. I love great statement necklaces like this; it could pair nicely with so many different looks. (Disregard the FitBit 🙂 )
I know tons of bloggers talked about their Nordstrom anniversary sales purchases over the summer. Well, these bootie were mine. I love the python heel to the added interest. They are the perfect height for me, too. I found them to be comfortable all day while wearing them at work.
My Thanksgiving break was great. Worked out. Relaxed. Watched Iowa Hawkeye sports with my daddy. Spent time with the family. Zero traffic. Ahhhhh…can we rewind time and do it again? Most of the weekend I opted for very comfy clothes, but we did go out for dinner, so I decided to actually get ready.
Yep. I know yesterday I talked about my love of button up shirts. So you shouldn’t be shocked that I yet again have another button up – with a sweater over it! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 🙂
I got photobombed by my Golden Retriever “brother” Urban. I love this dog. He is the sweetest thing ever and loves to give kisses – although I don’t always love to receive them.

When it’s cold out, I just want to be warm. I’d rather layer up than wear something too thin and be freezing. So when I saw these cozy and soft cable knit sweaters at the Gap, I knew this would be the perfect cold weather sweater.
We went up north of Asheville, North Carolina, to the mountains, and it was so beautiful. There were still some changing leaves on the trees, so orange, yellow, deep red leaves were everywhere. Growing up in the Midwest, the mountains were a trek to get to. Now we can get there in just a couple of hours, so we try to take advantage of it as much as possible.
This cable knit sweater was perfect for a day in the mountains. Kept me warm and looked stylish at the same time 🙂 And add my favorite pair of boots, and I was a happy, happy girl!
My obsession with C. Wonder continues. I picked up this sweater when they were having their friends and family sale. I am drawn to polka dots. Big dots, small dots, colored dots, white dots. I really don’t care. I have loved polka dots, well, forever.
The second I tried this sweater on, I knew I would pair it with this gingham button up I already had in my closet. One thing I do love about this sweater, too, is it is thick enough where you don’t see through to the shirt underneath. Have you noticed lately how some sweaters are so thin?! Drives me crazy.
Here’s how I styled this sweater for work the other day…
Sweater – C. Wonder; Shirt – J. Crew Factory; Jeans – AG; Boots – Frye; Necklace – J. Crew; Watch – Michael Kors
Daisy loves to photobomb me every time I take pictures for the blog. Good thing she’s so darn cute!

I love wearing boots. Love. It. I am a huge Frye fan, and I love being able to wear my favorite boots. Georgia has still been pretty warm, and I have to admit when I wore this, I was pretty much sweating in the afternoon (Boo!). But, it’s mid-October, people! It’s time to wear some boots. And a scarf!
I bought this scarf last year at Von Maur. I have worn it so many ways, I can’t even count. With colored denim, with skirts, with black, with cobalt blue, and the list goes on. I was always hesitant on wearing brown and black together. Why? I don’t know. I’m just weird that way I guess. So I opted for a cream sweater so I could wear my brown denim.
(Please excuse the massive cheese on my face…the hubs was making me laugh!)
