We just got back from spring break – and we went on another Disney cruise. As always, it was fantastic. Of course I loved dressing up every night too! I’m sure you are all shocked. 😉
When I spotted this off-the-shoulder dress at Banana, I fell in love. It stays in place, which is key with an off-the-shoulder. It didn’t rise up once and I didn’t have to mess with it at all. With the hidden inside zipper, it does a great job of accentuating the waist line. Overall, it is such a fun dress! Like always, Banana had it on sale, so I got it for 50% off – score!
And here’s my not-so-little princess with the real princess, Cinderella. We had fun taking our pictures with all of the characters!
On the girl – Lilly Pulitzer (last season on super sale)
The second I saw this maxi, I knew I had to try it on. I love a good maxi dress, especially one that I can wear to work too! This print is so pretty…mix of different blues, oranges, greens…with pops of white. It’s actually polyester, but feels silky. But that also means there is zero stretch, which is not ideal, but it has a beautiful flow to it when you walk. It’s almost sold out online in the white version, but they have a lot of the blue color. Banana always has sales…so if you just watch, I’m sure you can score this for 40% off or more. I have a Banana card and got it for 50% off and used rewards. 🙂 And I scored tons of compliments when I wore it – an added bonus!
Dress – Banana Republic Bold Floral Maxi; Shoes – Coach Rosemary Floral Rivets (last season, but just scored at the Rack), Jacket – Big Star (old, but similar); Watch – Rolex; Tory Burch Fitbit bracelet; Lagos (old) and David Yurman bracelets; Earrings – Stella & Dot (old); Ring – Lagos
I know I’ve done a post about the Align capris, but now that I’ve been wearing lululemon’s Align capris and pants for a while now, I feel I can really give a good review.
I. Love. These. So. Freaking. Much.
Not only are they comfortable, but the feel of this Nulu fabric is ridiculous. They describe it as buttery soft, and they are not lying. It is SO soft. What surprises me the most is even with the buttery softness, these really do wick away sweat. I like to wear these under sweaters with boots, too…so they are not just my workout gear.
I tend to like high waisted pants, and as you can see in the picture, these come up just enough. The tall waist has a pocket too in the front to hold any locker keys while you are at the gym.
When you pick these up, you may think they are really thin. That’s the beauty of them though. They are not a heavy pant, BUT they still hide any trouble areas. They slim you out without being tight and uncomfortable.
You seriously have to try on these pants – and buy them. If you wear workout gear as much as I do, they are completely worth the money. (And I’ve washed these a hundred times and they still look brand new.)
No, I just didn’t go on vacation…this was taken towards the end of last summer. I grabbed this awesome Mara Hoffman one piece on super sale via Gilt. I have to admit with all of the criss crosses, I had to go back to the model picture to see how to wear it properly – ha!
I’ve done a few posts over the years (here and here) talking about how great one piece suits have become! I’m so glad there are so many options now for those of us who like the additional coverage. Even though, I’ve seen a few one pieces that have less fabric that a two piece 🙂 When I’m searching for a one piece, I like fun colors, patterns, intricate backs or front designs, full seat coverage, etc. If you try on swim suits at the store and you’re questioning how it looks on you, I’d suggest buying it and trying it on at home. The lighting in some dressing rooms is horrible and unflattering! I know I don’t wear a swimsuit in fluorescent lighting!
I pinned a few awesome one piece options that are available right now at Nordstrom. Why did I just choose Nordstrom? Because they have free shipping and free returns! I may have bought one of these for our upcoming cruise…can you guess which one?
We are going on a cruise soon and I was on the hunt for two things – white shorts and dresses I could just throw on and go. Well, technically I guess dresses plural would be wanted more than one 🙂
When I got the Old Navy 40% off with your card email on Friday, I had to go check out their selection. Sometimes it is hit or miss for me there, so I was hoping this trip would be a big hit.
This midi floral dress is a big reason I wanted to go into the store instead of just ordering online. The top looked like it may be on the tighter side with the type of fabric and construction. I loved it on…but there definitely is no stretch. Luckily with the adjustable straps, I could lengthen them and make the top loosen up on me. Please don’t mind the socks…y’all know how Old Navy dressing rooms can be 😉 (Wearing a size small)
A great back detail for this jersey-knit dress. It’s a fit and flare…and if you follow the blog at all, you know that’s my favorite fit. The reviews online for this dress say the arm holes are huge. Uh, not they aren’t. I have on a small and it fit me perfectly fine. This dress is so soft! Would even be good as a bathing suit cover up. (Wearing a size small)
I gravitated toward this dress for the super cute print. This printed pintuck dress was just fun, and the pin tucks at the top give it a little unexpected detail. (Wearing a size small)
This striped rib-knit swing dress is ridiculously comfortable. And it’s exactly what I was looking for – something super easy to throw on and go. The navy and white stripes are even nautical for the trip. (Wearing a size small)
My white shorts from last year shrunk literally two sizes after I put them in the wash…so I was on the hunt for a new pair. I really don’t like to wear shorts, but I have a couple of cute tops that look so good with white shorts. I like the 5″ inseam on these; I’m not one to want to wear dazey dukes. (Wearing a size 6)
I love the off the shoulder look, but know I probably won’t wear that style of shirt a ton. That’s one reason to love Old Navy…wearing trends at an affordable price. I did do an arm test in the dressing room…moving my arms up and down, stretching my arms out to the side, etc. The top did a great job of staying in place. A similar one is online. (Wearing a size small)
I did see a ton of cute tops and accessories. I highly suggest making a trip to your local Old Navy. You can always find stuff on sale!
I don’t own a ton of neutral colors, but I’m not sure why. When I picked up this sweater on super sale at J. McLaughlin, it reminded me how pretty neutral colors can be. And I can’t forget to say how soft this sweater is! Being so neutral is also one reason why I love these Kendra Scott pieces – they go with everything!
One Christmas gift I really wanted this year was these Louis Vuitton sunglasses. I look at sunglasses as an investment. I take VERY good care of my glasses and wear them for multiple years. My last LV’s I got were back in 2013 and they look like brand new! Not only do I love the aviator style, but I loved the wrapped LV canvas around the sides. It’s the subtle details that always capture me. They are also very light to wear. There’s nothing worse than buying sunglasses that hurt your nose after wearing them for only an hour.
These Level 99 jeans were in my very first Stitch Fix, and I’ve loved them ever since! The amount of stretch is perfect, and they wash so well!
Shirt – J. McLaughlin Jamey (these are the new spring colors); Jeans – Level 99; Sunglasses – Louis Vuitton Petite Viola Pilote; Booties – Lucky Brand (similar); Earrings – Kendra Scott; Necklace – Kendra Scott
I love color, but I also love having a few cute little black dresses in my closet too. This one has been hanging in my closet for three years…I know, I know. What was I waiting for?! I guess I was waiting for this adorable kate spade clutch to come along to wear with it. 🙂
This adorable Ooh La La makeup crossbody was just on the kate spade surprise sale. I typically don’t buy cutesy purses, but I loved the simple design – and I love makeup – and the price was right. $75! Couldn’t pass it up!
It was great celebrating Valentine’s Day a few days early with the hubs. Last Valentine’s Day was not the best for us, so this year we really celebrated us and our love for each other ❤
Hope everyone out there has someone to love today!
A fresh cut always makes me happy! I was looking back at pictures over the last couple of years and was looking at my hair when I was leaving it longer. UH…what on earth was I thinking?!?!?!?! Short is the way to go on me. I see some of these women with gorgeous long hair, and sometimes I wish I had that. But, I don’t. And I’ve finally accepted that. Long hair just hangs on me. I need short. I need to frame my face. I need layers. I told my family to never let me try and grow my hair again 🙂
Let’s backtrack back to the middle of September last year when I had a spray tan and it was still green outside. I had totally forgot to post this, so better late then never right?!
The reason of posting it now was I saw this great dress on kate spade’s 75% off sale happening right now. I got this at my local kate spade outlet for around $80. Virtually free, right?! It’s just such a girly dress, especially the cut. You seriously just want to twirl around in it 🙂 (And no, not the Kenya Moore twirl from RHOA either!)
Get this dress while you can! They still had a few sizes left!
If you’ve followed my blog at all, you can probably guess what brand this dress is…yep! Ted Baker London. He’s my fav. I’ve actually had this dress for a year, and I finally cut the tags off for my annual work party. It’s a chance for all of us to get dressed up and have fun for the night.
Body con dresses are one of my favorite cuts, second to the fit and flare. And cobalt blue – definitely one of my favorite colors. The mesh detail at the top gives it just the little detail it needed.
I’ve also had these Michael Kors shoes forever. I tried on a few different pairs, not sure if I wanted to do a leopard print instead. The black won out, obviously. Some silver jewelry – and voila! I was ready to go. Of course I got some makeup eye color suggestions from my cousin because she’s the best makeup artist around 🙂
Hello, everyone! I know it’s been a very long time since I’ve blogged, but I’ve had a lot of personal things going on as well as a ridiculously busy fall season at work. I had to set aside the blog for a bit, so I’m coming back slowly but surely. And thanks to a few of you who actually reached out to me and asked if everything was ok…that really meant a lot to me. Oh, and if you used to follow me on Instagram, my account was hacked and deleted and I lost everything. But, I’m taking that as a fresh start, so if you would like to follow me, just click here (my account is set to private, so just request to follow).
This fall we made the big decision of gutting our kitchen. Not just a simple remodel of painting cabinets or new countertops. I’m talking complete gut. Ripping out floors. Ripping out cabinets. Not having a kitchen for six weeks. Although the process was long, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Here’s the before pictures. These are the original cabinets from when the house was built in 1996. Some of them were literally falling off the hinges. We had done band-aids of paint, granite, and a backsplash, but we knew an overhaul was needed.
One big thing we wanted was an island, one big enough for four kitchen stools. Another want – a new range with a hood. We first enlisted our cabinet guy (who is phenomenal), and he really understood our vision and came up with great drawings. After those were approved, it was time to pick granite, tile, backsplash, paint color, lights, appliances….so. much. to. pick. out. But, we did it with ease because we did have a vision of what we wanted. And of course I pinned everything so I wouldn’t forget. 🙂
It was time for demo! No, I didn’t pick up a sledgehammer…I left it to the professionals for that. They did a good job putting up plastic, but dust was everywhere.
After the demo, work could really start. Of course if one thing was off track, it threw off the entire timeline. It only happened a couple of times 😉 It just floors me how some people take zero pride in their work; I just don’t understand that.
With the drywall and tile done, the cabinets could finally be put in! We wanted dark cabinets with light countertops…and the stain and glaze we chose for the cabinets ended up being perfect.
I am not the cook in our family, so I really left the range selection to my husband. We did decide we only wanted four burners and added the option of a griddle and grill.
After the paint and walls were ready to go, we were at the finish line. I do have to say our walls were no easy task though…the previous owner of the house texturized them. It took lots and lots and lots of work to get them smoothed out.
So here’s the new kitchen! Every morning when I come in this room I feel like I live in a new house. It just feels like a bigger space with the lighter walls, countertops, and backsplash. And the island…I didn’t know what I was missing. Not only does it now store the new microwave, but has the four chairs and tons of drawers for storage. There are just a few things still left to do like window treatments in the seating area and new blinds, but those will come after the end-of-year bonuses at work. 🙂
We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. The six weeks of eating out and the house being a disaster was worth it.
Why I continue this Lilly Pulitzer kick, I’m not quite sure. But I’ve picked up some great pieces on super sale, so that makes my budget (and my hubby) happy! We spent Labor Day weekend in the Ft. Walton Beach/Destin area, so the girl and I busted out our “Lillys” for a great dinner out at Marina Cafe.
I had been eyeing this Clara dress for most of the summer, and finally picked it up on sale. It is so flowy and fun…and comes in so many fantastic prints. The girl’s dress we picked up when we were in Hilton Head on super sale (I’m totally not buying her full price Lilly stuff!). She looks so grown up! 😦 But I think we’ve perfected the-hand-on-the-hip pose, don’t you think?! Like mother like daughter.
On the girl: Lilly Pulitzer Rosalie shift dress
I love good workout gear. I typically workout at least three days during the week and both weekend days, so workout gear that lasts is important to me. I used to say that I would never buy lululemon because…well basically…everyone else was. But I caved two years ago. And I caved hard. Now that there is a store five miles from my house, I’ve found myself shopping there almost 75% of the time for my workout gear.
These Align pants are my new favorites. I was hesitant to try them because on the tag it says “if you want to feel…naked.” Uh, I really want to feel like I have clothes on while I’m working out – I don’t know about you 🙂 But the salesperson said they are ridiculously comfortable. They were right. They are high waisted, which I LOVE. They hide your trouble areas, but the fabric isn’t thick. It does an incredible job of wicking away sweat. There is a hidden key pocket. And then, they don’t move while you are working out…no falling down while I’m running or doing Zumba. I’ll confess I own two pairs now…and the leggings for when fall comes.
I’m always on the lookout for good and supportive sports bras. I love this Beat the Heat Tank. Not only is the design great, but it conceals the girls and doesn’t show too much. It’s comfortable and is not too restricting, even with the good support. Highly recommend.
I won’t forget to mention my trusty weighted ball either. Love this thing! While I’m catching up on my TV smut (a.k.a. Real Housewives), I’ll stand and do squats, lunges, tricep extensions, all with the ball. It even has suggested workouts drawn on the ball! Helps me from not being lazy while watching TV.
I guess this summer I had a slight obsession with Lilly Pulitzer. Not sure why, but the bright colors really drew me in. Same goes for when I saw this Sloane maxi dress. For one, I love maxis. Two, it was jersey material that doesn’t easily wrinkle. Three, the Roar Of The Seas print is so pretty. I do have to say though, I had to wear my tallest wedges with this…it’s so long! I definitely think I need to go to the tailor to have it hemmed a little bit. There are multiple prints of this dress, and with the ruching of the waist, it’s flattering on so many body types. Highly recommend this dress!
When I was on vacation, I stopped at a partner Lilly store, S. M. Bradford in Wexford. They have SO. MUCH. LILLY. What was even better? They had so much Lilly ON SALE. Now that’s my kind of Lilly! I just love the print on this Dahlia pleated sleeveless top. Love it even more with white jeans (and I won’t point out the two tiny chocolate spots I have on them!).
Top – Lilly Pulitzer Dahlia Pleated Front Top; Jeans – Banana Republic Ankle (on sale!); Wedges – Via Spiga (old); Necklace – Stella & Dot; Bracelets – Henri Bendel (one is sold out but the Petite Enamel is on sale still); Tory Burch Fitbit Flex holder (on sale in silver)
Not very often to do I ever buy things full price at Anthro…except for this dress. When we were in NYC and walked into their gorgeous store in Rockefeller Center, I knew I wanted to try this on. I love yellow, love a good floral print, love ruffles, and love small details. Yes, I splurged. But of course, now it’s on sale. Always works out that way.
If you’ve been eyeing it, you can grab it for $99 with an extra 25% off! This dress looks so much better in person than online…much brighter and more vibrant colors. And if you are a working momma like me, it’s office appropriate…it has a nude slip underneath.
And can I tell you how much I love my Fitbit Flex holder by Tory Burch?! I have been wearing by Flex for three years this month, and I’m glad I finally broke down and bought one!
Dress – Plenty by Tracy Reece Sungrove Maxi; Wedges – Corso Como Gladis; Bracelets – Henri Bendel (sold out except for the Petite Enamel Cuff); Tory Burch Fitbit Flex Holder (in silver on sale); Watch – Rolex
There’s nothing I love more than a fit and flare dress! (Ok, I do love a lot more, but this is a fashion blog!) The coloring of this Sail to Sable “At the Ferris Wheel” dress drew me in. They call it cabbage, but it’s far from that on my color wheel. It’s a soft green with coral accents. The flare is more structured too, which makes it fun to wear. I still can’t get enough of these Schutz caged wedges either. If you don’t have any white shoes in your closet, get some for summer! You’ll be amazed how much you wear them! And doesn’t the girl look so grown up?! Can’t believe she’ll be in 7th grade…time has flown by too quickly!
I know I’ve been a little MIA, but we were on a much needed family vacation in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. It’s crazy to think my family and I have been going there since 2000. 16 years?! Can that even be possible? My daughter’s first trek was when she was only four months old (yes, we were the crazy parents to take our four-month old on a plane…we lived in Illinois then). So mix being in the south and Lilly Pulitzer (and Jack Rogers)…you have a great vacation outfit. And not to mention super comfortable.
I typically don’t wear white unless I have a spray tan, which you can tell here that I definitely have one. I have a love-hate relationship with shorts, so same goes for wearing those unless my legs have some color. But the print on these and the fabric made them a must have in my book. Elastic waist…yes please! And the scallop edges are such a fun detail. The tube top stays in place, so I was never fidgeting with it at all…even on the windy Eco Dolphin tour (isn’t my son such a cutie patootie?!).
Top – Lilly Pulitzer Rilo Tube; Shorts – Lilly Pulitzer Dahlia in Shimmy Shimmy; Sunnies – Louis Vuitton (old); Sandals – Jack Rodgers Lauren (on sale!); Purse – kate spade (old); Tory Burch FitBit holder (on sale in silver!)
I stalked this dress for over a year…and my stalking paid off because I only paid $80 for this gorgeous beauty! Being patient is worth it sometimes I guess! 🙂
I just love the colors so much. It has my favorite cobalt blue and pinks, and I even love the brownish flowers they threw in there too. The fabric is thick and the dress is so well made. They still have this in many sizes on kate spade’s website for $196 – but I suggest you try your nearest kate spade outlet to see if they have it like I did.
Finally…I broke down and bought a Tory Burch Fitbit Flex holder. My colorful rubberized bands just didn’t make the cut with some of my clothing choices. And what a great investment this was! Feels just like a normal bracelet…and I don’t workout in it obviously. The rubberized bands still get used for that for sure.
This adorable shirt is on sale for $29.99! It’s such a pretty light purple in person…didn’t quite photograph as I would have liked. The laser cuts are such a cute detail, and I love the button close in the back. And it pairs great with these Banana Republic white skinny ankle jeans – which are on sale for $68!
And let’s not forget my new favorite Henri Bendel bracelets. I wrote about the amazing sale this weekend. Pick these up before they are gone!
Shirt – Banana Republic Laser Cut Crepe Tank; Jeans – Banana Republic Skinny Ankle; Bracelets – Cote D’Azure Charm Cuff $27.20, Petite Enamel Hinged Cuff $31.20; Necklace – Henri Bendel Petal Station Long Necklace $47.20 (sold out in white but still in other colors); Shoes – Frye (old – but similar here)
